New episode in an endless soap opera. Last week, La Cadena Ser announced that Real Madrid had given up on recruiting Kylian Mbappé next summer, now favoring the Erling Haaland option. Information contradicted this Monday by RMC Sport. The media indicates that the Madrid club would still like to enlist the Frenchman, provided that the latter sends a positive signal to Merengue president Florentino Pérez. “If Mbappé wants to come, let him do the job,” a source from Real told RMC Sport. At the end of his contract in June 2024 with PSG, the captain of the France team refused to lift his optional year last summer and has a good chance of finding himself free at the end of the season. A boon for Madrid which, however, no longer wishes to move forward on the matter.

For fear of becoming the “turkey of the joke” as in the summer of 2022, the Merengue would now leave the ball in Mbappé’s court, as evidenced by the club press release released a few days ago, reporting no contact between the two parts. Problem for the Madrid management, the Parisian striker, whose future remains unclear, would not intend to declare his intentions. According to El Chiringuito, which quotes a person close to the 2018 world champion, the latter would not have planned to speak publicly so as to “not put pressure like he did in other years” even if his “only” project would be to sign for Real. There is no doubt that his case will attract attention for a few more months both in Paris and in Madrid. Until its final decision which may take some time to come.
