A French U20 international at AS Monaco. The Principality club announced on Wednesday the arrival of Kassoum Ouattara, a young 19-year-old defender who played ten Ligue 2 matches this season with Amiens.

A left side by training, Ouattara can also play in the middle. His new club was seduced by his “constant progress and performances which allowed him to be regularly called up with the youth selections of the French team”.

Born in Paris in 2004, Ouattara played in Amiens since the 2020-2021 season, and discovered Ligue 2 last season (11 matches, plus one in the Coupe de France). Previously, he played at US Ivry, until 2017, then at FC Montrouge 92, between 2017 and 2020.

“His arrival as a joker will make it possible to compensate for the long-term injury of Caio Henrique (who had knee surgery and was absent for six months, editor’s note), Monegasque general manager Thiago Scuro said on Wednesday. This arrival is also effective because of the next African Cup of Nations.

This competition will take place next January. And Ismaïl Jakobs, currently starting as left back with Monaco, should play it with Senegal.

According to various sources close to the matter, the amount of Ouattara’s transfer to the Principality amounts to two million euros, to which are added bonuses of up to two other million euros.
