Aston Villa have signed French striker Moussa Diaby from Bayer Leverkusen for an undisclosed fee, the Premier League club announced on Saturday.
According to British media, the 24-year-old will sign a five-year contract after Villa paid around 45 million euros. Rumors had it that the player would join Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr.
The France international has made 172 appearances and scored 49 goals for Leverkusen after joining the club in 2019. Last season he was the club’s top scorer with 14 in all competitions.
Diaby joins midfielder Youri Tielemans and defender Pau Torres among Villa’s late-season signings, to add experience ahead of the Europa Conference League campaign.
Last season, after sacking Steven Gerrard in October, Villa enjoyed a remarkable turnaround under manager Unai Emery, finishing seventh in the Premier League.
