The French midfielder of Aston Villa (1st div. English), Morgan Sanson, 28, has been loaned to Nice for a season with an option to buy, the club announced on Monday evening. “Morgan is a mature player, who knows the L1 perfectly (238 matches and 36 goals, editor’s note)”, explained Nice sports director Florent Ghisofi on the club’s website. “It comes in the form of a loan with an option to buy, but we want it to stay with us for the long term,” he continued. Already loaned by Aston Villa to Strasbourg last year, from January 2023 to the end of the season, the former player from Le Mans, Montpellier and Marseille is therefore once again on loan in France.

On an internship in the United States with the “Villans”, Sanson joined Nice on Monday to perform the traditional medical examination and sign his contract. “I feel good, fresh,” said the player on the club’s website. “I know that the club is ambitious, so am I, (…) and I hope that we will achieve great things together.” Sanson is Nice’s first signing for the 2023-2024 season, excluding loan returns.
