Ivorian international striker Nicolas Pépé, on loan from Arsenal to OGC Nice last season, announced on Friday that he was signing up for Turkish club Trabzonspor. “(I am) very happy to join this club,” says the 28-year-old, wearing the garnet blue jersey of the Black Sea team, in a video shared on the social network X (formerly Twitter) by Trabzonspor.
According to the Turkish press, the striker, who no longer appeared in the Gunners’ plans, will formalize his transfer to Turkey on Friday until the end of the season. The native of Mantes-la-Jolie, a suburb of Paris, began his professional career in Angers, before making his mark with Lille between 2017 and 2019. He was transferred in August 2019 to Arsenal for 80 million euros, becoming the most expensive African player in history.
Sixth in the Turkish Süper Lig last season, Trabzonspor had been crowned Turkish champions the previous year.
