Paris SG continues to skim the “undesirables” from its workforce with the sale of Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum to the Saudi club Al-Ettifaq, announced by the Parisian club on Saturday.

Wijnaldum arrived at PSG in 2021 and was loaned to AS Roma in 2022, where he was seriously injured very quickly.

At El-Ettifaq, he joins his former Reds team-mate Jordan Henderson, who arrived earlier this summer.

Among the players who were no longer part of the project, Argentinian midfielder Leandro Paredes and Portuguese midfielder Renato Sanches left for AS Roma, Argentinian striker Mauro Icardi signed with Galatasaray where he had been on loan since January, and the Paris Saint-Germain loaned side Colin Dagba to Auxerre (L2) and Juan Bernat to Benfica on Friday, the last day of the transfer window.

There are still Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas, German striker Julian Draxler and Italian midfielder Marco Verratti in the Parisian “loft”. The latter two could sign in Qatar, according to L’Equipe.
