Stade de Reims formalized on Sunday the loan, for one season, of left-back Josh Wilson-Esbrand by Manchester City, with whom he is under contract until 2027. The 20-year-old defender has spent the last six months on loan at Coventry (English D2).
Trained at West Ham (English D1), he joined the Citizens youth teams in the summer of 2019. Pep Guardiola started him for the first time in the professional team on September 21, 2021, during an English League Cup match.
During the following exercise, Wilson-Esbrand made two appearances in the Champions League, during the group stage, against Copenhagen (Danish D1), then Sevilla (Spanish D1), a competition that his club won at the end of the season.
In Coventry, the left-back played 14 games. An English U20 international, Wilson-Esbrand can also play as a left midfielder.
