Bayern Munich publicly acknowledged for the first time this weekend that they were seeking to sign England star centre-forward Harry Kane from Tottenham and deemed themselves to have a good chance of achieving his goals.
The England international striker “has in all conversations made it very clear that his decision has been made” to join the German champions this summer “and if he stays there, we will have him and Tottenham will give in”, declared Saturday to journalists Uli Hoeness on the sidelines of a training camp in Bavaria for the club, of which he is one of the main figures.
Harry Kane, who will be 30 at the end of the month, “wants to play an international competition and Tottenham are not qualified next season” for one of the European competitions, “unlike our club”, added the president of honor and member of the supervisory board of the German champion. The English centre-forward “now has the opportunity to come and play for one of the best clubs in Europe”, he added.

Since the dismissal at the end of last season of the chairman of the Bayern management board, Oliver Kahn and of sporting director Hasan Salihmidzic, for results deemed disappointing, Uli Hoeness has played a central role in decision-making.
He is a member of a committee in charge of recruitment this summer, alongside another former glory of Bayern, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, the new president of the club, Jan-Christian Dreesen, and coach Thomas Tuchel.
However, Uli Hoeness admitted that the negotiations for a possible transfer of Kane, under contract with Tottenham until 2024, with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, were not easy.
Daniel Levy is “intelligent” and “first we have to get him to a stage where he will figure out an amount” for the transfer, explained Uli Hoeness. “He tries to save time, he is a seasoned professional, I appreciate him very much. But on the other hand, we ourselves were not born yesterday,” he added.
According to German media, Bayern have already agreed with the player but would have to shell out around 100 million euros to hope to find an agreement with Tottenham, who so far do not seem willing to let go of their best player. .
However, without a transfer this summer, the English club risks seeing Kane leave in a year without transfer compensation.
Bayern are desperately looking for a replacement for their former Polish center forward Robert Lewandowski, who left for Barcelona in 2022.
