New Inter Miami coach Gerardo Martino assured Thursday that Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets were not coming to Florida on vacation but to win titles. “We sometimes associate the United States and Miami with vacations. But it’s not that. They come for the competition”, declared Tata Martino during a press conference.
The newly appointed Argentine coach has already managed Busquets and Messi at Barcelona and the latter with the Albiceleste team as well. Inter Miami have lost their last seven matches in MLS and sit in last place in the Eastern Conference, 27th out of 29 in the league overall.
Martino won MLS in 2018 with Atlanta United and sees a bright future in the league thanks to Messi. “That the best player in the world decides to come and play there obviously opens up great prospects for growth,” he added.
