The 27-year-old Italian, who will aim for a third consecutive crown this year, was indeed the fastest of the two days organized in cool weather on the Gulf peninsula.

Bagnaia beat his teammate and compatriot Enea Bastianini and Spaniard Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia) on Tuesday. Like the day before, the Italian motorcycles dominated their competitors since they monopolized the first eight places.

The highly anticipated six-time Spanish MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez, who arrived in the Ducati fold this season after 11 years with Honda, took a promising fourth place aboard his Ducati-Gresini, less than four tenths from the leader.

The French Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) and Johann Zarco (Honda-LCR) were in difficulty since they only took 14th and 17th places respectively, confirming the mixed results of the Japanese motorcycles which nevertheless benefit this season from advantages to try to reduce the gap with their European competitors.

Like Monday, Bagnaia, trailing for a long time, waited until the end of the session to shine, taking the lead at 1:30 a.m. from the end of the day and never letting go.

The official start of the championship will take place on March 10 in Qatar for the first of 21 Grands Prix scheduled for this season.
