Boston remains undefeated at home, Giannis Antetokounmpo best rebounder in Bucks history, and Stephen Curry who does not score a winning shot for the first time in 268 games: here are the highlights of Sunday evening in the NBA.
Winners of Orlando (114-97), the Celtics bring their home record to 14 wins and zero losses, thanks to Jaylen Brown who scored 17 of his 31 points in the last quarter.
Jayson Tatum scored 23 points and Kristaps Porzingis signed a double-double (15 pts, 10 rebounds), allowing the Celtics to beat the Magic twice in three days. The Celtics had conceded four straight losses to the Magic before beating them Friday in a victory that Brown called the most important of the year.
“We must not skip ahead,” he said on Sunday. “Orlando is one of the teams that has taken advantage of us over the last year and a half… We have the right mentality and we come out on top, and I like that.”
Boston continues to dominate the Eastern Conference (20 wins, 5 losses), ahead of Milwaukee who ended the Houston Rockets’ streak of five wins in a row (128-119). With 17 rebounds, Giannis Antetokounmpo became the best rebounder in Bucks history (7,165), ahead of legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (7,161). The “Greek Freak”, who also scored 26 points, forms a shock offensive pair with Damian Lillard (39 pts, 11 assists).
In Phoenix, a decisive Kevin Durant (28 pts) allowed the Suns, tenth in the West, to beat the Washington Wizards 112-108. Devin Booker scored 27 points.
Finally, the Golden State Warriors, eleventh in the West, defeated the Portland Trail Blazers (114-118), penultimate in the conference. Klay Thompson scored 28 points, Andrew Wiggins added 25 coming off the bench. Stephen Curry was satisfied with 7 points and 8 assists, including a sublime one for Moses Moody behind his back. But his streak of 268 consecutive matches with at least one award-winning shot ended this Sunday.
