After Dennis Rodman, Karl Malone and Shaquille O’Neal, Joel Embiid could join the line of basketball players who have passed a head in a WWE ring. The Philadelphia Sixers pivot, elected NBA MVP last season, has never hidden his affection for wrestling. This is what earned him a fine of 35,000 dollars this week for “obscene gesture”, after having imitated the wrestlers of the D-Generation X faction.

Among the wrestlers of the famous “DX” was Triple H, who became head of content at WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment), the most famous wrestling federation in the world. The latter challenged Embiid on X (formerly Twitter). “I know a place where you can do this gesture all day, and everyone will love it. Wrestlemania 40 will take place in Philadelphia,” wrote Triple H, whose real name is Paul Levesque.

Wrestlemania is WWE’s biggest event each year and attracts spectators from all over the world. The 40th edition will be held on April 6 and 7, 2024. “I would love to but I don’t think I will be in Philadelphia,” responded publicly Embiid, whose Sixers team will then be traveling between Memphis and San Antonio.
