French point guard Théo Maledon has been released from his contract by the Phoenix Suns, the NBA franchise announced Tuesday.
The 22-year-old had only played four matches for a total of 13 minutes since being recruited in December by the Arizona team.
After Killian Hayes and Frank Ntilikina, he is the third Frenchman playing at position 1 who has had his contract terminated in the NBA.
All this while the lead is under construction in the French team, where coach Vincent Collet notes that it is “difficult to prioritize” the French pool.
After Oklahoma City and Charlotte, this was the third team in the NBA for Théo Maledon since his draft in 34th position in 2020.
