The last races do not smile on Alpine. Like his teammate Esteban Ocon, Pierre Gasly has not scored any points in his last two outings, and remains on a retirement at the Hungarian Grand Prix. The French driver confided in an interview with L’Equipe on this lackluster start to the season.

“This Sunday in Hungary unfortunately reflects our start to the season, deplores Gasly. Many combinations of circumstances prevented us from hoping to do well. The former Alpha Tauri driver believes he has “never been so unlucky since [his] debut in F1”.

If he is aware of not having “the expected level of performance”, he remains confident in the ability of his team to make the right adjustments to the car and get points. “The work never stops in F1. This year’s car is an evolution of last year’s car, so my influence on it is minimal, apart from a few adjustments that we make race after race. For next season, I have more weight on technical feedback with the team. The goal is to have a car that suits me better, closer to my natural driving style.”
