Fifa President Gianni Infantino affirmed that “there is absolutely no place for violence in football” in a message posted on Instagram on the night of Sunday to Monday following the incidents that occurred on the sidelines of the OM-OL match.

“Such events, like those which occurred in Marseille before the Ligue 1 match between Olympique de Marseille and Olympique Lyonnais, have no place in our sport nor in our society and I appeal to the competent authorities to ensure that appropriate measures are taken,” also wrote the head of the International Football Federation.
