The day after the terrible incidents that took place in Marseille, on the sidelines of the clash between OM and OL, the South Winners defended themselves. The group of Marseille supporters published a press release this Monday on social networks to condemn in particular the stone-throwing of the Lyon bus, which injured Rhone coach Fabio Grosso. “It seems necessary to us to condemn with the greatest firmness and without ambiguity the deplorable and intolerable events which led the decision-makers to postpone the match”, indicate the South Winners, mentioning “FC Lyon” rather than Olympique Lyonnais.
Faced with these “barbaric actions”, the association led by Rachid Zeroual denies any involvement in the attack on the bus which took the members of the Lyon staff and players to the Vélodrome stadium. “According to certain testimonies and comments from journalists, some of these thugs wore the colors and scarves of OM and the South Winners. If this is the case, these people have absolutely nothing to do with our group and the values it represents,” we can read in the press release. “Let us remember that the orange color which characterizes our group was not taken by chance: it is in opposition to any form of discrimination.”
Denouncing the “propagation of shameless lies” against it, the famous group of Marseille supporters calls in conclusion to find the culprits described as “unworthy” of the colors of the club. Yesterday evening, seven people were arrested by the police after the incidents in Marseille.
