Emmanuel Macron said on Saturday, the day after Kylian Mbappé’s announcement of his departure from Paris Saint-Germain, “to count on Real Madrid”, the probable future destination of the French star, “to free Kylian for the Olympic Games”.
“I am counting on Real Madrid to release Kylian for the Olympic Games, so that he can come and play with the French team,” the President of the Republic declared on X (from 7’47” on the video ), in a video where he answered questions from Internet users about Europe.
“I have no particular comment” on the announced departure of the Blues star striker to Real Madrid (even if the information is not yet official), added Emmanuel Macron.
Last month, the Head of State had already said he “hoped” that the captain of the French team would be able to participate in the Olympics even if the club he is likely to join, Real Madrid, has already announced that he would not release his players for this deadline.
Friday, the player trained at AS Monaco made his departure from PSG official on social networks, after seven years in the capital. Last week, he said “not thinking much” about the Paris Olympics. The Olympic tournament is not part of an international window defined by Fifa, and clubs therefore have no obligation to release their players.
