The English club West Ham announced on Thursday the recruitment of Spaniard Julen Lopetegui to succeed David Moyes as coach from next season.

Aged 57 and former coach of Real Madrid, the Spanish selection and most recently Wolverhampton (2022-2023), Lopetegui will officially take up his position on July 1, after a year without coaching.

West Ham have just finished ninth in the Premier League, but finished the season poorly, with only two victories in the last twelve matches in all competitions. Moyes’ departure was announced the day after a heavy defeat at Chelsea (5-0) on May 5.
