End of series for Manchester United. After four victories in a row, the Red Devils were surprised at Old Trafford this Saturday afternoon by a (very) interesting Fulham team (1-2), after a rather open encounter. The Cottagers got back into the match very well. From the first minutes, they were more aggressive in pressing and duels. A state of mind which allowed them to play many rapid transitions…and consequently to obtain several dangerous situations. Alex Iwobi, very active in the first half, came close to opening the scoring twice (14th and 18th)… just like Rodrigo Muniz who found André Onana’s right post with a superb sequence in the penalty area (33rd). However, despite their ascendancy in the game, Marco Silva’s players failed to materialize. And they even almost conceded the opener on a long-range attempt from Diogo Dalot shortly after the half-hour mark (31st). It was therefore with a scoreless score that the two teams returned to the locker room.

After the break, Erik ten Hag was (quickly) deprived of Casemiro, who opened his head in an aerial duel with Harrison Reed. And Fulham regained the advantage in the game. The Cottagers, once again, chained dangerous rapid transitions. And what was supposed to happen happened. On a corner on the right side hit by Andreas Pereira, Calvin Bassey deceived the vigilance of André Onana, in two stages, with a powerful right-footed shot at the near post (65th). This goal had the merit of waking up Manchester United. The Red Devils were more incisive in the last third of the opposing field. They multiplied the opportunities. And at the end of regulation time, after a powerful strike from Bruno Fernandes repelled by Bernd Leno, Harry Maguire, a surface fox, equalized (89th). The Mancuniens then pushed to get the victory… Except that they left spaces. Spaces that Marco Silva’s men took advantage of. On a rapid transition led by the incoming Adama Traoré, Alex Iwobi, found in the penalty area, pretended to open his foot…to finally close it and beat André Onana (90th 7). With this success, the Cottagers remain 12th but move a little further away from the red zone. The Red Devils (6th) miss the opportunity to come back to level with Tottenham.
