Newcastle lost for the first time in two months in the league, Saturday at poorly ranked Bournemouth (2-0), a fourth defeat of the season which saw the Magpies fall to 7th place behind Manchester United. Eddie Howe’s team has twenty points after twelve days, one less than the Mancunians, 1-0 winners at Luton on Saturday. Brighton, 8th (18 points), could overtake Newcastle on Sunday (3:00 p.m.) in the event of a victory against bottom-place Sheffield.

The second victory of the season, two weeks after the first already at home, conversely allows Bournemouth to leave the relegation zone, in 17th place with three points more than the first relegated Luton. The Cherries made the difference in the second half with a double from center forward Dominic Solanke (60th, 73rd). Newcastle were unbeaten in the Premier League since September 2 and a 3-1 defeat to Brighton. The Magpies leave behind a series of seven matches without defeat (five wins and two draws).

On Saturday, they were missing around ten players including many starters, between the suspended (Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes) and the injured (Dan Burn, Sven Botman, Callum Wilson, Alexander Isak…). And their winger Miguel Almiron was added to the list, forced off after half an hour due to a muscle injury.
