Biarritz took a step towards remaining in Pro D2 by winning at Agen 30-26 on Thursday in the opening match of the 28th day.

It was Agen who opened the scoring in the 6th minute with a converted try. But Biarritz, who benefited from the numerical advantage after a yellow card inflicted on their opponent in the 6th minute, responded 5 minutes later with a try also converted (11th) before taking the advantage in the score with a 2nd try (14th ) to lead 14-7.

Agen did not let himself be discouraged by scoring the 4th try of the game just before the break (39th) returning to a tie 14-14. But it was Biarritz who returned to the locker room with the advantage thanks to a successful penalty just before the whistle.

The Biarrots increased the score at the restart with another converted try in the 46th then a penalty in the 56th. But Agen came back to a point thanks to two tries, including one converted, before Biarritz regained some breathing space thanks to a penalty.

The Agenais were pushing hard in the last minutes in front of the Biarrots line but they resisted the pressure to win 30-26 and take an option to remain in Pro D2 with eight points ahead of the first relegation Montauban who will play Colomiers on Friday.
