Winger or center George North will play his last match with Wales on Saturday, against Italy, the Ospreys player announced on his social networks on Wednesday.

“I have decided that Saturday’s match will put an end to my international career. After fourteen years, it seems like the right time to retire. I loved and cherished every second in the Welsh jersey and got to play with fantastic teammates,” North wrote on his X account.

“I was very lucky to realize my dream. I can’t wait to start the next chapter,” he continued.

At 31, North has 117 caps with the Leek XV (plus three with the British and Irish Lions).

With Wales, he notably won the Six Nations Tournament four times (2012, 2013, 2019 and 2021) and played in four editions of the World Cup (2011, 2015, 2019, 2023).

North has played for Ospreys, the Swansea franchise, since 2018 after wearing the colors of Scarlets (2010-2013) and Northampton (2013-2018).
