The Catalans Dragons club, based in Perpignan and involved in the prestigious English Rugby League Super League, announced this Monday the extension of the contract of its captain Benjamin Garcia for two seasons, plus one optional. The third row who will soon celebrate his 31st birthday, French international (15 caps), has been playing for the Catalan Dragons since 2016, after a first stint between 2013 and 2015. “I am very happy to continue with the Dragons. I still have the same motivation and the same ambition to win a title with this club, declared the player in a press release. There have been many changes during the offseason but the group still lives well together. Steve McNamara also extended his contract, there is a clear project around him and Neil McIlroy and I want to be part of it.
And his coach Steve McNamara – who extended his contract to Catalonia as did sporting director Neil McIlroy – added: “Benjamin continues to help the team progress through his leadership on and off the pitch. His individual performances since my arrival have been exceptional and we are delighted that he has signed a new contract with the club. This weekend, the Catalan Dragons won their second match of the season, on the pitch in London (34-0), after dominating Warrington in the opening.
