Biarritz Olympique announced on Tuesday the return, as leader, of Serge Blanco to the board of directors of the Basque club. Three other people also join the governing bodies of the club led by Louis-Vincent Gave and Jean-Baptiste Aldigé: Nicolas Brusque, the former international back, the entrepreneur Jacques Etchalus and Stéphane Carella, a Pau hotelier.
Serge Blanco, the former international fullback with 93 caps, was president of Biarritz Olympique from 1995 to 1998 and then from 2008 to 2015. He was also the first president of the National Rugby League between 1998 and 2008. Brusque and Blanco had recently failed in their attempt to take over the presidency of the amateur structure of the Biarrot club held by the former “Galactics” of the club: David Couzinet, Jérôme Thion, Dimitri Yachvili, Imanol Harinordoquy and Jimmy Marlu among others.
In its press release, the BO indicates about these four new members of the board of directors: “Their attachment to the BOPB and their skills will be invaluable assets for the club in its development and sustainability strategy.” Biarritz finished 11th in the last Pro D2 season.
