South African Aphiwe Dyantyi has joined a franchise in his country for his return to competition. He signed a contract with the Durban Sharks. The winger was suspended for 4 years for doping, after testing positive for methyltestosterone or metandienone. His return is scheduled for the beginning of August and will play in the Champions Cup and United Rugby Championship season.

He was considered a hope of world rugby. As such, he was voted “World rugby revelation of the year” in 2019. The player spoke about his signature: “Above all, I’m just excited to be back. I hope everyone is as excited as I am to see what I’m capable of. I only promise to give my best in this jersey. I’ve been in Durban for a while now and I’ve seen what the Sharks mean to people. I’ve seen the pride people have here, I just want to contribute to that.”
