TF1 had already broadcast the previous Women’s World Cup, which was to take place in the fall of 2021 in New Zealand but which had been postponed by a year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Les Bleues finished the competition with the bronze medal.

In the fall of 2025, the tenth Women’s World Cup will bring together 16 teams for the first time, and will take place in England, notably in the emblematic home of English rugby: Twickenham Stadium in London.

TF1 also holds the rights to the Men’s World Cup which is currently taking place in France until October 28.

“The TF1 group continues its commitment to the visibility of women’s rugby,” underlines the television channel in a press release, specifying that it will also broadcast, from this fall, the matches of the French XV in the “WXV”, the new competition women’s tournament between the best nations in the world and just created by World Rugby, the governing body of world rugby.

The Blues are flying to New Zealand on Sunday, where they will play three matches on the program of this new competition: against the “Black Ferns”, reigning world champions on October 21, against Australia on October 28 and finally against the Canadians on November 4.

“Women’s rugby is at the heart of our mission to grow rugby globally. By increasing visibility through broadcasters and on digital platforms, we can highlight the best players in the world, thereby increasing the number of our supporters and participation more widely,” said Alan Gilpin, director general of World Rugby.

The France Télévisions group, for its part, holds the broadcasting rights in France for the men’s and women’s Six Nations Tournament until 2025.
