France’s second match at the 2023 Rugby World Cup, Thursday evening against Uruguay, was a ratings success, attracting 11.8 million viewers on TF1, according to figures from Médiamétrie published on Friday.

This match, won by the Blues (27-12) despite a performance which did not convince observers, achieved an audience share of 52.7%. This means that more than one in two viewers in front of the television at that time were watching it.

This is the second strong audience achieved by France in two matches, after the 15.4 million viewers for the opening match on September 8 against New Zealand (64.5% audience share).

TF1 holds the rights to the Rugby World Cup organized in France until October 28 but has resold certain matches to France Télévisions and M6.

In all, TF1 broadcasts twenty (including most of those from France), France Télévisions ten (including France-Namibia, the Blues’ next group match) and M6 eighteen.
