Johnny Sexton, fly-half of the Irish XV who beat South Africa 13 to 8, on BBC radio:
“This crowd… It’s amazing to see all these people coming today and I don’t know how it’s possible, over and over again. We didn’t want to disappoint them, it was a very competitive match. We couldn’t get our game together and neither did they, it was a real standoff. Beating a team like that is a demonstration of our value and that of the management team. We have to pay tribute to South Africa, who made the match so difficult to play.”
Bundee Aki, center of the Irish XV who beat South Africa 13 to 8, on the ITV channel:
“I have no words. These Irish fans are incredible. Honestly, I’ve never seen anything like it. This crowd coming out, it’s crazy, completely crazy, and it’s only going to get bigger and crazier from now on.”
