Uruguay “very much wants to go down in the history of this World Cup”, launched the rear coach of the Teros Joaquin Pastore, Monday, four days before facing the XV of France in Lille.

“We really want to make the history of this World Cup,” assured Pastore at a press conference. “This is our first match in the competition and it promises to be historic. This is the first time we meet France, the host country, which is one of the favorites. Uruguay arrives in better shape than ever. Before, we were amateurs. Today, we can rely on a good pool of players who are all professionals,” added the Uruguayan technician.

Same story from the players’ side. “For us, it is a pleasure to be able to start the competition against the organizing country. Beyond the audience and the atmosphere, it will be a source of motivation. We are not used to playing in front of so many people but it is a reason for pride, it will push us to give a little more on the ground, ”promised hooker Guillermo Pujadas.

Fabien Galthié’s men got their World Cup off to a good start, dominating the All Blacks (23-17) in the opening match on Friday, before challenging the South Americans in Group A, then Namibia (September 21) and finally the Italy (October 6).
