Steve Borthwick (England coach, after the 27-10 victory against Argentina): “George (Ford) was magnificent tonight. Of course against the poles, but also in his management of the game. This is a new example of the leadership that exists within this group. There were a lot of positives to take from this performance, not least the way the guys kept their composure in difficult times against a good Argentina team. This group has a lot of experience and some promising youngsters and I think that balance worked well today. The players deserve to enjoy this victory, but we will have to quickly focus on our next match next week against Japan.
Courtney Lawes (back row and England captain): “It’s nice to finally reap the fruits of our labor. The audience wasn’t the only one disappointed with our recent performances. We were too. We first wanted to have a great match for us. We defended well, the victory was good and Fordie (George Ford) had an incredible match. It is always difficult to win against the Pumas, even at 15 against 15. So it is something to do it at 14. We will celebrate this victory, but we did not play as well as we would have liked. There are still many things to improve.”
