Sam Cane (New Zealand captain, red carded in Saturday’s 12-11 defeat to South Africa in the Rugby World Cup final): “It’s so painful that it’s It’s difficult to find the words to express it. I feel a lot of pain, but at the same time I am so proud of my teammates, of the way they fought to get back into the match and come so close to victory. That says a lot about the quality of this group. A great group of men who are so proud to play for the All Blacks.
It’s been two months since the tournament started now and we know that any contact around the head has repercussions. I am not able to say what is good or not. We cannot go back and unfortunately I will have to live with it for the rest of my life.”
