Scotland loses an element ten days before its second match against Tonga (Sunday 24 at 5:45 p.m.). The Scottish Federation announced this Thursday the withdrawal of David Cherry for the rest of the World Cup, replaced by Stuart McInally. The hooker, who came on in the 56th minute during the defeat against South Africa, was injured off the field, falling down the stairs during his day off at the hotel. Suffering from a concussion, Cherry will be unavailable for at least 12 days due to protocols, which prompted his staff to call for a replacement.
“I am extremely disappointed to leave the team,” he explained in the press release published by his Federation. I loved my time at the (preparation) camp this summer and I played my first World Cup match on Sunday against South Africa. I wish the team all the best for the rest of the competition.”
Called to the rescue, McInally (33) was on the sidelines of the group “as a precaution” in France last week, following a concussion suffered in training by another hooker, Ewan Ashman, who should make his return against Tonga .
