The great Italian hope Francesco Camarda became at 15 years 8 months and 15 days the youngest player in history to play an Italian Championship match by making his debut for AC Milan against Fiorentina (1- 0), Saturday.
The striker, who entered in the 83rd minute of play, broke the precocity record established on May 21, 2022 by Wisdom Amey who was, according to Lega Serie A figures, 15 years, 9 months and one day when he played his first league match with Bologna.
This record for precocity was notably held by the legendary Gianni Rivera who was 15 years, 9 months and 15 days old when he made his debut in the elite with Alessandria in 1958.
If his entry was greeted wildly by the 73,000 spectators at San Siro, his impact on the match was very limited, with only two balls to negotiate.
According to the DAZN platform, he is the first player born in 2008 to play a match in one of the five main European championships.
“He has a lot of talent, he is an intelligent person, he understood that he would have to work even harder than the others,” said his captain Davide Calabria.
“He brought us his talent and his freshness. This is the first of the small steps he will have to take on his journey. He is humble, he is hardworking and he knows that this is only the beginning,” added his trainer Stefano Pioli, faced with a cascade of injuries.
AC Milan consolidated its 3rd place (26 pts) thanks to this victory, the first since October 7.
