Nothing serious for Paul Pogba. The French midfielder and international played the last 28 minutes of play in Juventus’ victory on Sunday against Empoli (2-0). His coach, Massimiliano Allegri, spoke of “discomfort in the back of the leg” for his player after the match. “The examinations carried out by Paul Pogba ruled out any muscle damage. They showed a slight muscle overload in the right thigh,” Juve said in a statement on Monday.

The Piedmont club specified that Pogba, not selected for France’s Euro 2024 qualifying matches against Ireland and Germany, on September 7 and 12, would continue to receive treatment “to then make his return in training”.

Pogba, 30 and world champion in 2018, was playing his second consecutive game against Empoli, again as a substitute, after a nightmarish 2022-23 season marred by injuries and reduced to ten games with Juve. Juventus is 3rd in the Italian Championship (7 pts) before the 4th day when it will receive Lazio Rome on September 16.
