Salernitana lost heavily to Lazio Rome (4-1) on Friday at the opening of the 32nd day of the Italian Championship, a 21st defeat this season which brings the Salerno club ever closer to relegation. Salernitana, stunned by a double from Felipe Anderson (7th and 35th), is twelve points behind the first non-relegation place, Verona, and can finish the weekend fifteen points behind this 17th place.
With six matches still to play, the red lantern would need to achieve an improbable full success to ensure their survival even though they have only won two matches this season, their last victory dating back to December 30. For its part, Lazio, although deprived of its scorer Ciro Immobile and Matteo Guendouzi, reacted after two consecutive defeats in the semi-final first leg of the Italian Cup against Juventus Turin (2-0) and in the championship in the Roman derby against AS Roma (1-0).
The team recently coached by Igor Tudor moved up a place to 7th, one step behind Atalanta who occupy the last qualifying place for Europe, but who have played two matches less.
