Real Madrid announced on Monday the arrival of Spanish international striker Joselu, on loan for a season from Espanyol Barcelona, who have just been relegated to the second division.
Real Madrid and Espanyol “have agreed on the loan of the player Joselu (…) for next season, with an option to buy at its term”, indicated the Madrid club in a press release.
The Spanish press took for granted the arrival of the 33-year-old striker at Real Madrid, even if the player had preferred to delay during his internship with La Roja, with which he won the League of Nations against Croatia on Sunday (0 -0, 5-4 on tabs).
“I feel good here. From next week, we will see what will happen, ”said the Spanish striker on Friday, the day after the goal against Italy (2-1) which propelled Spain into the final.
Trained at Celta Vigo, Joselu has already evolved between 2009 and 2012 at Real, mainly with the reserve team.
Born in Stuttgart, Germany, he played in this country for Hoffenheim, Eintracht Frankfurt and Hanover, but also for Stoke City and Newcastle in England as well as for Deportivo La Coruna and Alavès in La Liga.
In view of this career, Joselu only had his first selection with La Roja last March, two days before his 33rd birthday. He now has 4 (3 goals).
Joselu arrives in a Real team in need of attackers after the departure of captain Karim Benzema, imitated by Marco Asensio and Mariano Diaz. It will be presented on Tuesday at an event organized at the club merengue’s training center.
