French star swimmer Léon Marchand won the 200-yard breaststroke (approximately 183m) of the PAC-12 university championship in Federal Way (Washington State), on the night of Saturday to Sunday, signing the ninth individual success of his university career.

Already winner of the 500-yard freestyle (457m) on Thursday, a university record, and the 400-yard medley (366m) on Friday, the French prodigy dominated the race in 1 min 48 sec 60. This is his third consecutive title in the university championship event.

The Frenchman was also part of three winning relays (400 free, 400 medley and 200 medley), establishing another university championship record (NCAA) in the 200 medley relay.

His exploits, just over four months before the Paris Olympic Games, earned him the title of Pac-12 swimmer for the third consecutive year. After the Pac-12 championship, he is expected to participate for his university Arizona State in the NCAA finals from March 27 to 30 in Indianapolis.
