Briton Matthew Richards, 20, was crowned world champion in the 200m freestyle on Tuesday in Fukuoka (Japan), ahead of Romanian favorite David Popovici, fourth.

He is ahead of his compatriot Tom Dean, second, and Korean Sunwoo Hwang with a time of 1 min 44 sec 30/100th.

Above all, he took the world crown from Romanian defending champion David Popovici, a big favorite who finally finished fourth after running out of strength in the home stretch.
