The French Adrian Mannarino, 34th in the world, won Monday in the semi-final of the ATP 250 tournament in Astana, Kazakhstan, against the Austrian Sebastian Ofner and will play his third final of the year on the circuit on Tuesday. The best tricolor in the ATP ranking took out Ofner in two sets, 6-4 6-2, in a perfectly controlled match, after his narrower victory in the quarter (6-1, 7-6) against another Austrian, Jurij Rodonov.
The 35-year-old Frenchman, in great form this season with a third title gleaned on the Newport turf in July, will face the American Sebastian Korda in the final in an unprecedented encounter. A fan of the game on grass, Mannarino will fight on hard court this time to offer himself a fourth title against an opponent he has never faced before and succeed Novak Djokovic, winner of Tsitsipas in 2022, on the winners list of the Astana tournament.
