Caroline Garcia’s adventure at the Masters bis contested in Zhuhai (China) ended this Friday in the group match phase. The Frenchwoman was dominated by Beatriz Haddad Maia in two sets (6-1, 7-6) in 1h37 minutes of play after having signed a catastrophic entry into her match. She was trailing 5-0 before losing the first set 6-1 in around twenty minutes.
Garcia, who had nevertheless entered the competition well by dominating Madison Keys in two sets (6 -3, 7-6) raised the bar in the second set finally dropped in the decisive game (7 points to 4).
The Frenchwoman, now 20th player in the world, is ending a disappointing 2024 season during which she did not win a single tournament while she had won four finals last year and in particular the Women’s Masters, the best line of her prize list (11 tournaments).
