French No.1 Caroline Garcia did not find solutions against the American Danielle Collins, 15th in the world, who dominated her 6-3, 6-3 in the 3rd round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Rome on Sunday.

After this defeat, only one representative of French tennis remains at the Foro Italico, Alexandre Müller (109th), who on Monday challenges the Russian Andrey Rublev, 6th in the world and recent winner of the Masters 1000 in Madrid. Garcia, struggling with her serve, was broken three times in the first set, lost in 37 minutes.

In the second set, the Lyonnaise, 23rd in the WTA rankings, held up better and obtained two break points at 3-2 without managing to make them happen. In the following game, on the contrary, it was she who was broken, leaving Collins to take the lead irreparably.

Garcia will approach Roland-Garros (May 26-June 9), where his best result, a quarter-final, dates back to 2017, with a record this year on clay of five victories and four defeats.
