The Italian Jannik Sinner (world No.3), seriously knocked out on Sunday by Tallon Griekspoor (26th), nevertheless qualified for the round of 16 of the Masters 1000 in Miami.

In his duel against Sinner, the Dutchman Rune shot first, winning the first set in 61 minutes thanks to two aces in a row, after making the break at 5-5 with a forehand into Sinner’s net.

But the winner of the Australian Open managed to find the opening at the end of a very tight second act, where he went into a mouse hole. He only got his first set point at 5-4, not exploited, before equalizing with one set everywhere on the second, at 6-5.

After coming close to elimination, Sinner then took a clear advantage in the deciding set, won 6-1. The Italian will face Australian Christopher O’Connell (53rd in the world).
