The French number one, Caroline Garcia, had to fight hard on Tuesday to get through the first round of the WTA 250 tournament in Rouen (clay and indoor) against the Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto, 55th player in the world (6-1, 3 -6, 7-5).
After an ideal start, all aggressiveness both on the serve and on the return, Garcia seemed stuck when his first ball weakened. But she found the resources when her opponent served for the match in the third set, to return to tie (5-5) then beat her to the post with a superb short cross forehand (7-5).
