The duel of French left-handers in the second round of the ATP 250 tournament in Marseille between Ugo Humbert (21st in the world), seeded N.4, and Hugo Gaston (86th), from qualifying, turned in favor of the first, winner 2- 6, 6-1, 6-3.
In an attempt to reach the last four, Humbert will face the Argentinian Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (24th) or the Finnish Emil Ruusuvuori (55th).
In the first set, pocketed in 35 minutes, Gaston took Humbert’s serve twice, in the first and then in the fifth game. Humbert saved three set points at 2-5, but he could not prevent Gaston from win this first set.
Complete change of scenery in the second where this time it was Humbert who took Gaston’s serve twice, in the second and fourth games, to win this set 6-1 in 39 minutes and get back together.
In the decisive round, the first break was signed by Gaston, who broke away 3-1. Humbert then won the next five games to win this see-saw match.
