Japan’s Nao Hibino, 28, won the Prague tournament by defeating Linda Noskova, 18, 6-4, 6-1 in the final on Monday. The end of this 250 tournament was greatly disrupted by the torrential rains falling on the region: the semi-finals scheduled for Saturday have been postponed to Sunday.
The second of them was not concluded until Monday morning, and the final, disputed in stride in appalling conditions, had to be interrupted still because of the rain when the score was 6-4, 4- 1 (30-0). Hibino won the third title of his career, eight years after the first obtained in 2015 and four years after the second won in 2019.
A beautiful epilogue for the Japanese, 136th in the world at the start of the tournament, who should not have appeared in the final draw where she had to be fished out only after a withdrawal. Noskova (71st in the world), who was playing her second final on the circuit after Adelaide in January, started this final well where she led 3-0 before collapsing, finally committing a double fault on the match point.
