The 25-year-old Japanese Naomi Osaka, former world number 1 in tennis and winner of four Grand Slam tournaments, has given birth to a baby girl, the American magazine People announced on Tuesday. The magazine specifies that the child was born in Los Angeles and that he and the mother are doing well.
Naomi Osaka announced in January that she was pregnant, and revealed in early June that she was expecting a baby girl with rapper Cordae, her companion since 2019. Osaka chained the titles but after her second title in Melbourne, she went through a psychologically difficult year 2021, admitting to having suffered from depression. After returning to competition in January 2022, she then suffered an Achilles tendon injury. She has not appeared in competition since September 2022.
