Swiatek-Sabalenka-Pegula: The positions are frozen on the WTA podium in the ranking published on Monday, where the main change is the jump of six places of the Russian Liudmila Samsonova (12th), finalist Sunday in Montreal.

In the Quebec capital, 24-year-old Samsonova was no match for American Jessica Pegula, who swept her 6-1, 6-0. The Russian player can however take comfort in reading the new ranking, since she finds a high in her career – she had already been 12th last February. For his part, Pegula, 29, consolidates his third place behind the unstoppable Polish Iga Swiatek and Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, and just ahead of the Kazakh Elena Rybakina (4th) and the Tunisian Ons Jabeur (5th).

The French Caroline Garcia remains sixth, but the Lyonnaise will enter a risk zone for her ranking, starting with the WTA 1000 tournament in Cincinnati this week, where she will have to defend the points of her final success last year. Among the other tricolors, the trend is rather downward, as for Varvara Gracheva (45th) and Alizé Cornet (66th), who respectively lose five and six places.
