Ons Jabeur, 6th in the world and finalist last year at Wimbledon, was beaten on Tuesday at the grass tournament in Berlin, preparatory to the London Major, by the German Jule Niemeier (120th) 7-6 (7/4) , 6-4.
The Tunisian is struggling to regain the level that also took her to the US Open final last season and to 2nd in the world. Niemeier will face the Canadian Bianca Andreescu (35th) or the Czech Marketa Vondrousova (53rd) in the next round.
