After his victory in the 1st round of the ATP 250 in Lyon against Lloyd Harris (6-4, 6-2) on Monday, Arthur Rinderknech gave his opinion on the astronomical fine received by Hugo Gaston after his gesture of anti-play during of his defeat in the second round of the Masters 1000 in Madrid against the Croatian Borna Coric.

“The fine imposed on Hugo is downright excessive. I understand the ATP has increased the fines. It is indeed a very bad gesture but is it worth such a sum, I find it enormous even if this kind of reflex is not to be seen on a tennis court, ”reacted the French player. Without supporting his compatriot, Rinderknech condemns the ATP, as does Corentin Moutet who gives his full support to Hugo Gaston: “He made the French dream of Roland-Garros and Bercy, he has an irreproachable attitude 95% of the time but he is human like all of us.” The French number 5 directly attacks the Atp: “I would like to know where all this money is going, it’s shameful to take so much money from someone who has invested his life to be there”.

For its part, the ATP specified that the fine of 133,000 euros would be reduced by half, provided that the player’s behavior is irreproachable for one year.
