The Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, 8th in the world, qualified for the round of 16 of the Masters 1000 in Rome by beating the Briton Cameron Norrie (30th) 6-2, 7-6 (7/1) on Monday.
Tsitsipas, winner of the Masters 1000 in Monte Carlo and finalist in Barcelona, fell as soon as he entered the competition in Madrid, before arriving in Rome.
In the next round, he will face the Australian Alex de Minaur (11th), who defeated the Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassisime (20th), recent finalist in Madrid, 6-7 (2/7), 6-4 , 6-4.
